What you are referring to is normally the software-imposed limit for reliability, or the battery discharge limit. This has nothing to do with what the motor can generate.

So, I’m choosing a motor for my EV, should I choose based on the continuous rating or the peak rating? Because I know we are supposed to run the motor for only a short period of time at its peak rating to avoid overheating.
