    1.     So, I started doing research on electric cars and was alarmed to note that most of them have leased batteries, costing about 60 pounds a month upwards. I probably spend less on diesel per month so going e doesn’t make sense to me. I did see a small number of cars for sale with owned batteries, so I guess I could consider that option. I would love to hear everyone’s input on this.

    You need to check that the seller makes it clear whether the battery is leased or not or you could ask for proof if no battery lease is claimed.

    Leased battery packs are a thing of the past. I don’t think any manufacturer sells an EV with a leased battery.
