Hi everyone. I am new to the EV world so please excuse. I have been shopping around for a new car and I can’t decide between a regular petrol/ hybrid or PHEV. I live in an apartment with no driveway, so the EV is out. I heard that PHEVs run on battery first and fuel being more of a backup. We will be using the car for short trips in often congested streets. What would you guys suggest or do in my scenario? Any help appreciated.

Personally, I would prefer to use a full BEV with a range of 20 miles. With your trip pattern you would only need to fill once a week at a rapid charger with a 45-minute stay to take on a week’s mileage.

Technically you would have to maintain an ICE and mechanical parts may give you more problems. If you live close to rapid chargers, I will just go for an EV.
